WHY THE ENgineering CO-SPACE
The CO-SPACE was born out of the Faculty of Engineering’s desire to create a space to meet young people and citizens.
Why “CO-SPACE”?
In May 2024, Prof. Gennari and Prof. Petti shared an initial concept of a third-mission space for young people and citizens with colleagues and local stakeholders.
In June 2024, feedback was gathered, e.g., what young people would like to do in the space, the tools they would like to have in the space, and the name they would like to give to the space.
Young people, in particular, expressed their wish to have a space for
- concrete, practical workshop-like activities
- collaborative, team-based activities
- and creative activities with different materials.
And thus the name ‘CO-SPACE’ was born.
Use Cases
Engineering academics regularly engage in 3 types of knowledge-sharing activities:
Classes
Workshops for classes to experiment the latest research findings and learn by doing, as in the unibz STEM school for high-schools, organised in collaboration with the Advisory Office.
Individuals
Summer camps for interested children or teens, e.g., in collaboration with local youth organisations.
Teachers
Life-long learning initiatives in collaboration with the local Education Departments.
